Occupation: Post Production Assistant for Pirates of the Carribean II & III

How many days will you be marching?
Full time - 19 days

Why did you decide to participate as a marcher?
Aside from fully participating in the march I will be filming as part of a documentary that I'm making about the march. I feel that it is very important to capture the entire process so that people can experience all the hard work put into it as well as the dedication of the organizers and marchers. On a personal level the reason for my participation is to pay respect to my grandparents and their families for experiencing such inhumane circumstances that not any human being should go through.

What do you hope to achieve by participating in this march?
I hope to reinforce both my physical and mental ability, contribute to the "March for Humanity" mission as well as capture some great footage from this remarkable event.

What are you doing to prepare for the march?
Participating in the weekly training sessions, increasing my personal weekly exercise routine, making healthier eating choices and drinking lots of water!

Do you have any relatives who were Genocide survivors?
Both my grandfather and grandmother were Genocide survivors.

If so, can you talk a little about their experience?
My grandfather and his family were forced to relocate for 3 years with constant walking for long periods of time. He experienced family members collapse in front of him during that time and was unable to stop and help.

Why do you think it is important for the US to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide?
It is important for the US to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide so that the Turkish government can pay in every way for what they did. This can also pave the way for awareness of genocide to the world, so that this part of history will not repeat itself.

What significance does this year being the 90th anniversary of the Genocide have for you?
It makes me sad that it is the 90th anniversary of the Genocide and it officially hasn't been recognized by the US. Because it has been 90 years since the Genocide events like the "march for humanity" can shake things up in the US so that we won't have to have the 100th anniversary of the Genocide and still not be recognized.
